With June 6th recognized as Visually Impaired People Day, now is a good time to discuss how Medicare approaches vision care.

Original Medicare (also known as Medicare Parts A and B) is designed primarily as medical insurance. That means coverage typically applies to the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions affecting the eyes, rather than to routine vision care. However, Medicare Advantage plans usually do include coverage for routine eye exams.

Swipe for a brief overview of what Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans cover when it comes to vision care and eye health.

If you’d ever like to review how your current Medicare coverage addresses vision care, don’t hesitate to reach out to our team. We are always here to be a resource for you.

Small employers: Don’t overpay for health insurance.

If you haven’t explored a level-funded group health plan, now is the time. These plans can offer potential premium savings, greater transparency, and the opportunity for refunds when claims are lower than expected.

If you’re turning 65 soon and are unsure about what it means to enroll in Medicare, you are not alone. One of the most common questions we hear from those nearing retirement is around the timeline for signing up for Medicare.

So, we wanted to share a few important reminders to help you stay on track:

✅Know your enrollment window. Your initial enrollment window lasts for seven months — three months before your 65th birthday, your birthday month, and three months after your birthday. Enrolling early in this timeframe can help ensure your coverage begins right when you need it.

✅Understand how to sign up. Some individuals are automatically enrolled in Original Medicare, while others need to take action themselves to enroll in Original Medicare. This often depends on whether you are already receiving Social Security benefits.

✅Do not delay without a plan. Waiting too long to enroll without qualifying coverage can result in delayed coverage start dates and ongoing late-enrollment penalties.

✅Be aware of other options. If you are still working and covered under an employer plan, you may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period that can allow you to defer your enrollment. However, missing all enrollment windows can limit your options and increase costs, so it's best to clarify this early.

Medicare decisions can feel overwhelming, but you do not have to navigate them alone. Whether you are approaching 65 or are simply evaluating your options, contact us for guidance tailored to your situation.

In today’s unpredictable environment, safeguarding your business's future has never been more essential. A well-rounded business continuity plan, paired with the right insurance coverage, ensures resilience in the face of unforeseen challenges.

Two key coverage options to consider:

✔ Key Person Insurance - Provides financial protection in case of the loss or disability of essential personnel, shielding your company from unexpected disruptions.
✔ Business Continuation Insurance - Ensures a seamless ownership transfer if a partner passes away or becomes disabled, often linked to buy-sell agreements to prevent disputes and maintain operations.

Last week meant a lot to me and my family. I had the privilege of watching the City of Miami Beach honor my uncle, Skip Bertman, by dedicating the Flamingo Park Baseball Field in his name.
Before the national titles and championships, he was “Uncle Skip” — and a coach who helped shape young athletes in Miami Beach. Leading the Miami Beach Hi-Tides to a state championship and two runner-up finishes was just the beginning of a remarkable journey.
Seeing his name on that field brought everything full circle — from those early days in Miami Beach, to the “Grand Illusion” play at the University of Miami, to five national titles and seven SEC championships at LSU.
What’s always stood out to me isn’t just what he accomplished, but how many lives he’s impacted along the way. His legacy continues to inspire generations of athletes and families, and I’m incredibly proud to call him my uncle.
