Since opening its doors in April 1898, The Farmers State Bank of Westmoreland has proudly served its community for 128 years. Throughout these years, only five employees have received the Kansas Bankers Association's 50-Year Banking Award.

What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that four of these five recipients spent their entire 50-year banking careers at The Farmers State Bank of Westmoreland, serving the same bank, under the same name, in the same small-town community.

Those honorees include:
Ed Moore – 1995
Steve Ebert – 2021
Jim Moore – 2026
Roxie Zoeller – 2026

A fifth recipient, Jean Venneberg, received her 50-Year Banking Award in 2022. She spent her entire banking career serving the Onaga community even though the bank underwent at least four name changes over the years.

We are honored to celebrate these five individuals and their dedication that has helped make The Farmers State Bank of Westmoreland what it is today!

Congratulations to the Moore family on receiving the Kansas Bankers Association’s Century of Family Banking Award!

This prestigious honor recognizes families who have been committed to the banking industry for over 100 years.

The Moore family’s banking legacy began in 1926 when Chris H. Moore joined Farmers State Bank after working in the mercantile business. He later acquired a majority interest in the bank’s stock and became president.

In 1945, his son, Edward “Ed” C. Moore returned to Westmoreland to work alongside his father. Ed became president of the bank in 1970 and dedicated over 50 years of service to the bank.

In 1976, Ed’s son, James “Jim” E. Moore, returned home after serving in the United States Air Force and began his banking career as a loan officer. He became president in 1996, retired from that position at the end of 2023, and continues to serve as the Chairman of the Board.

Jim’s sons, Ben Moore and Brian Moore, both serve on the bank’s Board of Directors.

Ed’s daughter, the late Susan Gaskill, also served as a Board Member from 2001 until her passing in 2024. Her daughter, Brianna Gaskill, now serves as a Board Member.

For four generations, the Moore Family has remained dedicated to providing financial needs to the bank’s customers and to supporting its small-town communities.

We are honored to celebrate the Moore family's remarkable legacy and congratulate them on this well-deserved recognition! 👏

Congratulations to James “Jim” Moore on receiving his 50-year banking award at the CEO & Senior Management Summit/Annual Meeting earlier this month!

After serving in the United States Air Force, Jim followed in the footsteps of his grandfather and father by beginning his banking career at Farmers State Bank in Westmoreland. He joined the bank as a loan officer in 1976 and became president in 1996. After retiring from that position at the end of 2023, he continues to serve as the Chairman of the Board.

Throughout his career, Jim has remained dedicated to serving the people of Westmoreland and the surrounding communities. His passion for education, banking, and community service has made a lasting impact on generations of customers and community members.

Congratulations, Jim! 👏🎉👏
