If your home was impacted by the recent storms or flooding, here are a few important steps to take.
We know many families in our community are dealing with water and storm damage right now. If you’ve been affected, save this post and share it with someone who may need it.
📸 1. Document the damage BEFORE cleanup
Take plenty of photos and videos of damaged areas and belongings. Capture water lines, flooring, drywall, furniture, appliances, personal property and exterior damage.
🧾 2. Save your receipts
Keep receipts for cleanup supplies, temporary repairs, lodging and other storm-related expenses.
đź“ž 3. Contact your insurance company or agent
If you have damage, reach out so you can understand your coverage, deductible and next steps. Our team is available 24/7 to help our policyholders start the claims process.
đź“Ť 4. Report your storm/flood damage to Indiana 211
Even if you are uninsured or underinsured, reporting your damage is important. These reports help state and local officials understand the extent of damage in our communities and can help determine whether additional disaster assistance may become available.

🏠5. Check available disaster assistance
Depending on the storm and whether state or federal disaster assistance is activated for your area, additional resources may become available through Indiana disaster programs, FEMA or the SBA.
🧹 6. Prevent additional damage when it is safe to do so
Once you’ve documented everything, take reasonable steps to prevent further damage and begin safely drying affected areas. Keep records and receipts for anything you do.
Most importantly: you don’t have to figure out the insurance side alone.
