Basketball was always a passion of mine growing up. I was fortunate enough to attend camps throughout my childhood that helped build my confidence—not only athletically, but socially within my community.
I recently watched a documentary about a man who had spent much of his life involved in crime. He described a turning point when he was 14: his parents couldn’t afford a $300 basketball camp. He felt as though his dreams weren’t worth investing in, and shortly afterward, he dropped out of school and began heading down the wrong path.
I’m sure there was much more to his story, but it reminded me that opportunities many of us take for granted can have a meaningful impact on a child’s life.
Over the next year, I would like to cover the cost of basketball camp for two local children whose families may otherwise be unable to afford it.
If this could help your child—or a family you know—please reach out. You can DM, text, or call me directly.
