1. For the first time ever, Credit Card Debt is currently over $1 Trillion.
2. Americans’ credit card debt is $104 BILLION higher than the record set in the fourth quarter of 2019 when balances stood at $927 billion.
3. Massachusetts residents carry the 9th highest CC debt in the country at $8400.
4. For cards accruing interest, the average in the second quarter of 2023 was 22.16%.
5. Most homeowners have the highest amount of equity ever.
6. To tackle this credit card debt:
a. Open and transfer existing balances to a 0% credit card.
b. Open a Home Equity Line of Credit, but those rates could go up to 18%
c. Talk to me about a debt consolidation refinance loan. I have a fantastic software program that will show you how to pay the debt off, and use the monthly savings to rapidly pay down your new loan.
This strategy was very effective prior to the pandemic and now is the time to take advantage of this as the Fed is expected to keep rates higher for longer. So if you know a homeowner who is nervous about their debt, please have them call me.
