I have thought about that exchange a lot since. A geologist who will not repeat a good number until he has checked it three times is the most valuable person you can have on a project like this.
Investors ask me why they should believe our grades. It is a fair question, and the honest answer is that you should not, not on my say so. Neither did we.
That is the whole business in one story. You do not get to believe your own results. You test them until someone independent agrees, and then you publish what they found.
