This is the most common situation I see with small businesses, and it is painful every time.
The owner sets up a group health plan. They are doing the right thing, trying to offer benefits. But the employee share of the premium is too high, so nobody enrolls. The owner ends up paying $2,000 or more a month for a plan that only covers their own family.
That money is not helping anyone. And it is not staying in the business.
I am currently working with a local Iowa business in exactly this situation. Once we find a smarter structure for the owner, we will start looking at more affordable options for the team, too, people who have had no coverage at all up to this point.
If this sounds like your business, let us talk. There are options that most small business owners have never been shown.
