Today, Merchants Bonding was honored with a 2026 Economic Impact Award from the Greater Des Moines Partnership.

We’ve grown alongside Des Moines since 1933, and our headquarters expansion, finishing this December, is the next chapter: more room to grow, more room to hire, and a commitment to keeping good jobs here.

Our leadership structure is evolving as we prepare to support an ambitious vision for long-term growth.

Effective January 1, 2027, Larry Taylor will become Chief Executive Officer while continuing as Chairman of the Board. Elisabeth Sandersfeld will become President, leading the company’s day-to-day enterprise operations and performance.

This evolution builds on Merchants’ strong foundation while adding leadership capacity to accelerate ex*****on, growth, and long-term success.

Our class of '26 interns just wrapped up 12 weeks at Merchants this summer. They took on real projects, built new skills and connections, and made an impact in their departments and across Merchants as a whole.

Merchants' annual summer picnic didn’t disappoint this year. Associates and their families spent the day bowling, racing through laser tag and escape rooms, and enjoying the face-painting station.

Whether they were chasing a high score or just enjoying time with family, Merchants associates know how to show up for each other outside the office too.
