Meet Your Farmers, Andrew and Mary Lauver from Calhoun County!

Based near Lake City and Rockwell City, Andrew and Mary are fifth generation farmers raising the sixth generation on their family farm. Together, they raise corn, soybeans, cattle, and chickens through Lauver Family Farms, while also managing several businesses rooted in supporting agriculture and rural communities. At home, they are raising their three young children, Doris, Viola, and Donald, with the same values of hard work, service, and love for agriculture that have shaped their family for generations.

Mary owns and operates Lauver Law, a rural law practice focused on agricultural law, real estate, and estate planning, and is proud to be the first female attorney in Lake City, Iowa, while Andrew leads Lauver Farm Solutions, providing seed and soil sampling services. Their passion for agriculture began early. Both were raised on row crop and livestock farms and were deeply involved in 4-H and FFA. Andrew is Vice President of the Calhoun County Farm Bureau Board, a member of the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame, and has worked on agricultural issues in Washington DC and grain logistics in Western Canada. Mary is an active 4-H leader, continuing to invest in the next generation of agriculture.

Lauver Family Farms represents generations of stewardship and forward thinking, guided by their “rule of 62” philosophy, meaning when one generation turns 62, primary decision making is handed to the next generation, creating a smooth transition, shared trust, and long-term sustainability for the farm.
