I had a great time supporting the kids at their school’s fun run! Heiko was proud to sponsor the event, and it was special to be there cheering everyone on, especially my own kids.

As a dad, I love getting to show up for these moments and be part of the things that matter to my family. I’m also grateful that through Heiko, we can support our local schools and be involved in the community our family calls home.

Continuing our Heiko Designation Series with RICP®, or Retirement Income Certified Professional®.

The RICP® designation focuses on the strategies that can help turn retirement savings and other resources into a thoughtful income plan. This can include considerations around Social Security, taxes, withdrawals, longevity, and other factors that can shape your financial picture in retirement.

Caitlin and I recently had the opportunity to attend OARS in Key West, a conference designed for high-performing Managing Directors and focused on leadership, business growth, and personal development.

One of the things I value most about opportunities like this is the chance to step away from the day-to-day, learn from other leaders, and come back with new ideas and perspectives.

It was also special to experience the week together with Caitlin. We’re always looking for ways to grow individually and as a team, and experiences like OARS give us the opportunity to do both.

Grateful for the conversations, the people we met, and the ideas we’ll bring back with us as we continue building and growing.

Today marks another year in this career, and I’ve been reflecting on how much has changed since I first started.

When I began, I knew I wanted to build a career where I could help people and families work toward the things that matter most to them. Over the years, that has grown into something much bigger than I could have imagined.

I’m incredibly grateful for the people who have trusted me and my team to be part of their lives, and for the team around me who continues to challenge me, support me, and make this work so rewarding.

I’m also grateful for the opportunity to keep learning and growing. There’s always more to learn, more people to help, and more ways to get better at what we do.

Most importantly, I’m thankful that I get to do work that I genuinely enjoy with people I care about.

Here’s to another year and everything ahead.

September was a busy month for the Heiko team, with plenty of time spent making memories outside the office.

Cormic enjoyed a Bears game with his family and celebrated a wedding with his wife, Maddie. Kaci traveled to Colorado for a wedding with her fiancé, Kam. Marisa enjoyed a concert with friends, and Cooper spent some time soaking up the sun on vacation in Hawaii.

We love seeing our team make time for the people, experiences, and things they enjoy outside of work. Here’s a look at a few highlights from September!

I recently had the opportunity to speak with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and one of the things I wanted to emphasize was the importance of investing in people beyond the sport they play.

As someone who played football, I know how much sports can shape you. But some of the most important lessons and relationships extend far beyond the field.

Taking the time to pour into someone’s personal development, character, relationships, and future can have an impact that lasts long after their playing days are over.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to spend time with these athletes, share some of my experiences, and hopefully encourage them to continue growing not just as athletes, but as people.

Each quarter, our team takes time to step away from the day-to-day, come together, and focus on planning, learning, and getting better.

During our most recent Growth & Learning Day, we had several speakers join us, including Matt Plocher, Northwestern Mutual’s VP of Field Leadership and Performance. Matt shared the history of Northwestern Mutual in Iowa and where we’re headed as we look toward the future.

A key theme from his session was “beliefs drive behavior.” He challenged us to think about the beliefs guiding our work and how we can turn those beliefs into action through a personal design statement, a one-year business plan, and a three-year letter to ourselves.

Days like this give us the opportunity to step back, think bigger, challenge each other, and be intentional about where we’re going as a team.
