Florida’s Hometown Heroes Program Is Officially Returning 👏

After strong support from both the Florida House and Senate, $50 million in funding was approved for the 2026–2027 fiscal year as part of the state budget expected to be finalized this week.

This is a huge win for Florida’s first-time homebuyers, essential workers, and the mortgage professionals who have continued fighting for programs that help families achieve homeownership.

Hometown Heroes has already helped thousands of Floridians buy homes across the state, and many were hoping to see the program return.

What’s next? The final Florida state budget is expected to be released tomorrow. We’ll continue sharing updates as the budget is officially adopted and as additional details about the new Hometown Heroes funding cycle become available.

If you bought a home over the last few years, your refinance “strike rate” may be closer than you think.

A new LendingTree study found that nearly 1 in 3 homeowners who bought between 2023 and 2025 could potentially benefit from refinancing, with average savings estimated around $2,320 per year.

And the interesting part?

It doesn’t always take a massive rate drop for the numbers to start making sense.

Sometimes even a small improvement can help monthly cash flow, reduce high-interest debt faster, or create a little more financial breathing room.

And refinancing isn’t the only strategy worth looking at right now. If you’ve built up equity, a HELOC may also help you consolidate debt or access funds without replacing your current first mortgage.

Might be worth seeing where your personal strike rate actually is.

According to a recent LendingTree study, over one-third of homeowners who obtained a 30-year, fixed-rate mortgage between 2023 and 2025 might save thousands a year by refinancing at market rates seen in early April 2026.
