⚠️ HUDSON COUNTY WEATHER ALERT

Residents should stay weather aware from approximately 4–9 PM today, Friday, October 16, as a fast-moving line of showers and thunderstorms may move through the region.

Damaging wind gusts are the primary concern. Frequent lightning and periods of heavy rainfall are also possible.

Before the storms arrive:

• Secure patio furniture, decorations, trash and recycling bins, and other loose outdoor items.
• Avoid parking in low-lying or flood-prone areas.
• Charge your phone, enable emergency alerts, and move indoors when thunder is heard.
• Never drive through a flooded roadway.

Since this is a timely weather-safety post, I checked the current National Weather Service outlook. A strengthening coastal low is expected to bring rain, strong coastal winds, and multiple rounds of tidal flooding to parts of New Jersey into the weekend. That makes a practical preparedness post a good fit with the agency’s recommended social strategy of providing useful safety information rather than hard-selling.
