Mortgage recast vs. refinance: What’s the difference? 🏠💰

Major progress for homebuyers! 🏠✨

The Homebuyers Privacy Protection Act has passed both the House and Senate and is now headed to President Trump's desk for signature.

This landmark legislation will dramatically reduce (though not completely eliminate) spam calls flooding your phone after you apply for a mortgage. Starting about six months after it's signed into law, credit bureaus will face much stricter rules about selling your information to competing lenders.

Here's what changes:

✅ Credit bureaus can only share your mortgage info with lenders you already have relationships with
✅ Much stricter consent requirements for information sharing
✅ Significant reduction in unwanted marketing calls during your mortgage process

Important: You should still opt out of trigger leads for other types of credit like auto loans, credit cards, and personal loans. The new law specifically covers mortgages.
