Will Insurance Cover the Riots?
Lots of downtown businesses are still recovering after being closed down for a few months, now they are facing a second blow from rioting and looting. Are they covered? “Most people will be covered under their policies,” says Tim Graydon, of the Graydon-Toole Insurance Group in Bedford Heights. Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, insurance companies took the stance where they will not cover the losses from the virus because there was no physical damage. Now with the riots going on, we sadly see obvious damage. From these riots, we see businesses losing the ability to generate revenue due to damage and loss of use to their buildings. These businesses should not see an issue getting covered from this chaos.

Many downtown business, still reeling from being closed for about two months, now face a second blow: they are closed again because of damage caused by Saturday’s looting and rioting.
