We know many people will be celebrating this Memorial Day as the beginning of summer and BBQ, but do you know the true meaning? Memorial Day, originally known as Decoration Day, was officially recognized as a federal holiday in1971. It stemmed from the tradition of Free Black Men and Woman decorating the graves of fallen Civil-War Veterans in Charleston, SC. It has evolved to encompass all service members who have lost their lives in battle and should be celebrated by cleaning and decorating the graves of fallen service members and remembrance of their sacrifice. Whether you agree with the reasons or not, these brave men and women gave their last breath so we could continue breathing, please take a pause today and have a moment of appreciation for those who died so we may live. MTG WORX LLC thanks all our service members past, present, and future for their sacrifice, and honors our fallen heroes.
