The Fed Reserve Balance Sheet has an extraordinary balance of bond assets. At some point it will have to be reduced. The only way to reduce it is by selling it back to the marketplace, which reduces the money supply and raises interest rates or allows it to mature , which reduces its flexibility to manage the economy in the future.

Central banks were the superheroes of the early phase of the pandemic, taking dramatic steps to save the economy and financial markets from ruin.

We need to increase income taxes, but have all qualified medical expenses, charity contributions, and college expenses be 100% deductible.

End all college credits, allow all college loans to be converted to a 0% interest loan, forgiven only be death or disability of student or payer that it is based on.

Principal paid back according to an earnings schedule. Some careers are excepted from the government 0% status because they are more lucrative positions or not economically important. We need to include loans for tradesman roles.

End child income tax credit and work credit. Maximum refund is always the amount of Federal tax paid in, excluding social security and medicare taxes.

End medicare premium tax and the net income tax. End state income tax deduction on Schedule A and Mortgage interest deduction on home values greater than national average. Secondary homes have no property tax or interest deduction.

When Biden was elected, did we not already expect higher taxes? He campaigned on it. The Democratic party swept the election.

My concern is the transaction tax proposal to pay for college. It will cause financial assets to leave the US and just reduce the performance of all retirement accounts. If this is really considered, it will cause a major drop in value and reduce ongoing returns. Frequent transactions reduce risk of bubbles.

We have added 5T in debt and still have liability for Social Security and Medicare Trust. Better idea is 0% interest loans for specific careers

It is important to realize that keeping funds that were mistakenly transferred to your account is considered theft.

Even though a holding period exists to allow firms time to detect an error via audit, it does not mean you can keep funds. Schwab is being nice about doing arbitration, they can and should file a criminal and civil complaint. It is a felony to keep the funds. The issue would never hit a jury, it would be resolved via summary judgement.

Further, the financial stability of the federal government’s pension insurance programs faces many structural challenges that require congressional action; most urgently, one insurance program faces a high likelihood of insolvency by 2026, which would result in many participants in insolvent pension plans receiving a small fraction of guaranteed benefits.

These fiscal challenges would threaten the retirement security.

A financial transaction tax is a very dangerous proposition. It would reduce investnents through the capital markets and would hurt smaller investors and businesses more. A majority of trading occurs in retirement, pension, and insurance accounts. The real concern is the exceptions that the Federal Government would approve.

I suggest two taxes instead - a luxury tax on items such as cars over $50k that are not hybrid, yachts over $1m, purchase of homes over $5m, and a transaction tax associated with the sale or use of personal information by a marketing or data collection process. Also, a taxed filing fee for any lawsuit filed without first attempting arbitration. These taxes could raise the needed funds. The SEC fee on trading can be increased to fully fund the SEC budget. Penalties charged offset annual fee collections.

Uncle Sam is in search for a pot of gold that could ease the pain of trillion-dollar deficits. And some believe Wall Street might just have the answer.

If your employer encouraged you to work from home because of COVID, and did not reimburse you for the expenses, you will discover that those expenses are not deductible.

Unless you decided to create a self employment gig of consulting or some other service. Then you can deduct the expenses as a new business operation on a Schedule C. The expenses associated with your w2 job are not deductible.

You have until April 15 to file your taxes with your new Schedule C sole proprietorship losses along with your w2 taxable income. Great time to convert a hobby into a business.

Reminder-

As a w2 employee, do not attempt to take a home office deduction. Just because COVID sent you home does not mean that your corporate office is no longer your official location. You pay taxes to cities where your office is located and your business may have received tax credits to maintain employment levels.

W2 employees are not able to take home office deductions or deductions for unreimbursed expenses necessary to perform services for their employer. But they can be reimbursed tax free for setup expenses at home. Employers, do not give a bonus, instead give a tax free per diem for home office expenses and a discount card to buy office supplies at corporate rate.
