The initial reports on how Open Enrollment for Washington state did. Yes, we had 28,000 fewer enrollees. While we had a 9% decrease in who got premium tax credits on average. It was the rural wealthier counties that took a hit.

Yes, Chelan county was the biggest loser when it came to tax credits.

In Chelan County, the average net premium for a subsidized plan was $102
while the average net for a nonsubsidized plan was $616.

That is a lot of money being drawn out of thousands of households in our state. It's a lot of income drawn out out of our healthcare system. This is before the big cuts from the Big Beautiful Bill. Pay attention early this summer when the proposed rate increases are posted.

It has been a few years since we have stumbled across this kind of discrimination in Washington. Be watchful if work at a company that does this as it is highly illegal.

A spouse is a spouse. Marriage has protections involved and if they are refusing to acknowledge a legal marriage then consider switching companies immediately because they are breaking the law.
