What's Up Wednesday - David A. Howe Public Library

Come on by the library to get ready for summer!
Patrons of all ages will be able to register for Summer Reading! This year's theme is Unearth a Story (be prepared for dinosaur EVERYTHING!).
The Ukuladies will provide a live soundtrack! Anyone who wants to will be able to bling out a pair of sunglasses! There will be lawn games and a photo booth and lemonade and snacks!!!

What's Up Wednesday - Genesee River Wilds

The annual Genesee River Wilds Float is back and bigger than ever!
Bring friends and family and meet some new friends on the river Saturday, June 6 with a scenic float from the RiverWalk Plaza in Wellsville to the river access site in Amity.
The fun continues after the float with live music and food vendors at the Amity Park, open to floaters and non-floaters alike.
FLOAT DETAILS
Drop your boat and register at the Wellsville Riverwalk Plaza at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 6. Drive your car to the Amity Park river access, and we will provide a shuttle bus back to Wellsville, to get on the river by 10 a.m.
The run should take at least 4 hours, and up to 7 depending on the river level and pace of floaters. Expect conditions for intermediate boat handling skills. Remember to bring your canoe or kayak, a life vest, a drink, sunscreen, hat, appropriate footwear (PLEASE: no flip-flops!) and dry bag for your phone/keys. We will have dry bags available for purchase at registration as well.
If you want to participate but do not own your own kayak, contact Epic Adventures for rentals!
A registration form and waiver are required for each person. Youth under 16 are free. Same-Day registration is available, but preregistering is preferred and comes with a discount.
A $40 day-of registration fee supports GRW in its efforts to protect and maintain your local river, some GRW swag, and automatically enters you in the drawing to win a kayak!

The float will go off rain or shine barring extreme inclement weather or unsuitable water levels.
Proceeds from the float help Genesee River Wilds expand recreational access to the river, build new recreational infrastructure, host events, and protect the health of the overall watershed. See you on the river!

What's Up Wednesday - Allegany Hope

An expanded Memorial Day Weekend Celebration will start Friday and continue through next Monday in Belmont, serving as the kickoff to the village’s 250th Celebration in observance of the signing of the country’s Declaration of Independence.
Belmont American Legion Post 808 will host the activities in honor of local veterans and active service members, with Friday’s kickoff, from 3PM to 10PM at the organization’s facility at 29 Schuyler Street (State Route 19), featuring gatherings, reunions and music.
Saturday, May 23, will feature a Vendors and Artisans Market from 10AM to 2PM, Mandy Hintz and Hintz of Thunder musical group from 2PM to 7PM, and a fireworks display at 7PM.
Sunday will feature open co****le and horseshoes competitions, followed by Memorial Day ceremonies the following day.
On Monday, five wreath placements will occur at different cemeteries and memorial sites in the morning, followed by an 11:30AM parade on the village’s main street from the Belmont Fire Department to Park Circle for annual Memorial Day ceremonies.
Residents and businesses are being encouraged to decorate homes, storefronts, and properties in red, white, and blue, beginning Memorial Day weekend and continuing through July 4.
The American Legion, Belmont Rotary Club , and the Village of Belmont, NY will be joining together for the 250th Celebration, with volunteers requested to contact Shannon Harding at [email protected] or (716) 909-2601.
