This January, Baystate Financial celebrates a major milestone as Managing Partner Dave Porter retires after 30 years of exceptional leadership.

Since 1996, Dave has transformed Baystate from a firm of 49 advisors and one Boston location into a powerhouse of more than 600 advisors and staff associates and 17 major locations throughout the region and Florida. Baystate’s assets under management grew from $280 million to $24.2 billion*, while life insurance protection climbed to $20.4 billion**. Under his guidance, Baystate has become a recognized leader in the industry and a repeated recipient of “Best Places to Work” honors from The Boston Globe, Providence Business News, and the Boston Business Journal.

Beyond numbers, Dave built a culture rooted in integrity, mentorship, and community. He founded the Baystate Financial Charitable Foundation in 1999, raising over $5 million to children’s organizations and earning repeated recognition as a Corporate Citizenship Award winner noting top charitable companies by the Boston Business Journal. For decades, he coordinated annual toy drives to benefit children in the Department of Children & Families, bringing joy to thousands of foster children.

Dave’s leadership extends far beyond Baystate. He is a former Chairman and current member of the Board of Trustees at Elon University as well as former Chairman of the Board of Directors at Zoo New England. His previous board memberships include Tufts Medical Center, YPO New England, Citi Performing Arts Center, and the Boston Police Activities League of Massachusetts (PAL). He has also been an international speaker and authored "Where Winners Live".

As we honor Dave’s extraordinary legacy and wish him the very best in retirement, we also look ahead with excitement and confidence as Andrew Cleary, CFP®, CLU®, AIF® steps into the role of Managing Partner, continuing the mission, momentum, and values Dave helped define.

Dave, for 30 years you led with vision and inspired a culture grounded in integrity, mentorship, and excellence. Your leadership built a legacy that reaches every corner of Baystate. Thank you for shaping not just a firm but a community- one that gives back, grows together, and strives for greatness every day.
