• Is aircraft maintenance insurance required?
Many aircraft owners, leasing companies, and operators require aircraft maintenance insurance contractually before allowing maintenance work. Some of the coverage typically required would be products and completed operations coverage in a General Liability policy.

• Can mobile mechanics get insured for aircraft maintenance?
Yes, often mobile A&P Mechanics will need specialized coverage since they operate at multiple facilities and airports.

• Does general liability insurance cover aircraft maintenance?
A standard General Liability insurance policy would typically not cover aircraft maintenance operations. In most cases coverage could be added to a general liability insurance policy to help manage exposure.

• What liability limits do I need for aircraft repair insurance?
All operations are different. A $1,000,000 limit of liability can be purchased for a small operation. In many cases multiple millions are required and available.

Part of the Travers Aviation Insurance team had a blast attending the Aviation Insurance Association 2026 conference last week. It was an outstanding event, with a big thank you going to the AIA's production and board for putting it all together. Congrats on their 50th anniversary!

The aviation community continues to be full of passionate and supportive people--a great reminder of how important relationships are in this unique industry. Meeting new professionals, seeing old friends, and putting faces to names are always some of the most rewarding parts of attending these events.

Also, congratulations Greg Sterling on receiving the Pinnacle Award, a well-deserved recognition! The event was memorable and we hope everyone who attended had a wonderful time. Even after years of experience in the aviation industry, we are still amazed of just how special this community truly is.

• What type of insurance do drone operators need for farming?
Typically drone operators can carry hull coverage, liability insurance, and payload protection for agricultural operations.
• Can my farm insurance cover my spray drone?
Most of the time, no. Standard farm policies often exclude aircraft and aerial applications. That is why it is best to work with Travers Aviation Insurance to receive the right coverage for your drone(s).
• Is agricultural drone spraying covered by farm insurance?
No, however you can purchase a specific policy that can include chemical spraying coverage or aerial application.
• Does insurance cover a “flyaway”?
Hull coverage can cover incidents where the drone is lost.
• How much liability insurance do I need for a farm drone?
Often times operators carry $1 million in liability coverage. Higher limits like $5 million may be necessary depending on the type of work.
• Can I insure multiple drones under one policy?
Yes. We offer fleet insurance for AG drone operators.
• Can I fly a drone without insurance?
If you’re using a drone for any kind of commercial work, insurance is recommended. UAV insurance can be priced reasonably considering losses can be catastrophic.
