Today is the Spring Equinox — meaning warmer, wetter weather and that much anticipated spring bloom is on its way! Want to nerd out a bit? Here are a few fun things you may not know about Spring Equinox:
1) It's also known as the vernal equinox ("vernal" is an adjective meaning spring).
2) On this momentous occasion, the sun will be positioned directly above the equator, something that only happens twice a year: on this date
3) Translated from Latin, equinox means "equal night." In that ancient tongue, the word for "even" is "aequi" while "nox" means "night.
