A lot of owners say:

But honestly?

Some companies stopped building good techs a long time ago.

Some HVAC companies stopped measuring success by how many systems
they fixed.

They started measuring success by how many systems they replaced.

And customers can tell the difference.

There are technicians who walk into a home looking to solve a problem.

There are technicians who walk into a home looking for a replacement
opportunity.

Those are not the same thing.

Don't get me wrong.

Sometimes replacement is absolutely the right answer.

But when every service call somehow ends with a replacement quote, customers start asking questions.

Here's the uncomfortable truth:

A company can hit every sales goal and still lose the trust of its market.

And once customers believe you're selling to them instead of serving them, the relationship is already over.

Should a technician's success be measured by how many systems they save—or how many systems they replace?
