🏢 Product of the Month: The Medicare Advantage "Safety Net"

Did you know that most Medicare Advantage plans have a daily co-pay for hospital stays? In 2026, those costs can reach $300–$400 per day for the first week.

If you’re hospitalized for 5 days, that’s a $1,500+ surprise bill waiting for you at discharge.

That’s where GTL Hospital Indemnity comes in. # # # 🛡️ How It Works: It’s simple. If you go into the hospital, GTL sends a cash check directly to you—not the hospital. You can use that money to:

✅ Pay your Medicare Advantage hospital co-pays.

✅ Cover the cost of an ambulance ride.

✅ Pay for groceries, gas, or bills while you recover.

🌟 Why We Love the GTL Advantage Plus Elite:
Guaranteed Issue: If you are between ages 64 ½ and 70, you can often get this coverage with no health questions asked.

Rate Stability: GTL is known for incredibly stable rates that don't increase just because you get older.

Observation Coverage: Most plans only pay if you are "admitted." GTL pays even if you are just held for observation (6+ hours).

Watch the video below to see a real-life example of how this plan protected a client named Sheila from an $1,800 hospital bill! 📽️👇

The best is now even better with GTL's Advantage Plus Elite Hospital Confinement Indemnity Insurance! Advantage Plus Elite is designed to fill some of the co-payments, deductibles or coverage limits of today’s most popular health insurance plans. Cash benefits are paid directly to insured to cover...

Today is National Go Fishing Day. There is something truly special about passing down the love of the outdoors to the next generation. Our children grew up fishing and they are fishing with their children. What a great thing to pass on! This is my grandson Miles and his big catch last summer. 🏆

If you have to work today like me, make sure to get a fishing day on the calander! 😉

💊 Medicare Part D: Understanding the Basics for 2026
Today, we’re looking at Part D, which helps cover the cost of your retail prescription drugs. This year brings some of the most significant changes since the program began, making it a great time to review the fundamentals.

❓ What is Medicare Part D and Is It Required?
Medicare Part D is a voluntary program offered by private insurance companies approved by Medicare. While it is optional, there is a reason most people choose to enroll:

Avoid the Penalty: If you go 63 days or more without "creditable" drug coverage after your Initial Enrollment Period, you may face a permanent late enrollment penalty. This penalty is added to your monthly premium for as long as you have Part D coverage.

Budget Protection: Even if you don’t take many medications now, Part D acts as a safety net against the high cost of brand-name or specialty drugs you might need in the future.

💰 2026 Cost Overview:
Average Monthly Premium: While premiums vary by plan and location, the average estimated premium for 2026 is approximately $34.50.

Maximum Deductible: No Part D plan is allowed to have a deductible higher than $615 this year.

The $2,100 Out-of-Pocket Cap: This is the big news! In 2026, once you have spent $2,100 out-of-pocket on covered prescriptions (which includes your deductible and co-pays), you pay $0 for the rest of the year.

🤝 How I Can Still Help You
You may have noticed that some insurance carriers have changed how they work with independent agents for Part D enrollments. My role as an educator and advisor hasn't changed.

Even if I am not the one "submitting" your enrollment for a specific stand-alone plan, I am still here to:

✅ Explain the 2026 rules so you know what to expect at the pharmacy.

✅ Guide you through using the Medicare.gov tools to find the plan that covers your medications at the lowest cost.

✅ Keep an eye on 2027 as we monitor future changes to ensure you stay protected.

Knowledge is your best tool when it comes to Medicare. I am here to make sure you have it!

Required Disclaimer: “We do not offer every plan available in your area. Currently we represent nine organizations which offer 55 products in your area. Please contact Medicare.gov, 1-800-MEDICARE, or your local State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) to get information on all of your options.”

🩺 Medicare Part B: Understanding the Basics for 2026

Medicare Part B is a key component of your healthcare coverage, primarily focusing on medically necessary services and preventive care. As we move into 2026, here is a helpful refresher on what Part B covers and what to expect regarding costs.

✅ What Part B Helps Cover:
Doctor Services: Visits to primary care doctors and specialists.

Outpatient Care: Services received at a hospital or clinic without an overnight stay.

Preventive Services: Many screenings, flu shots, and yearly "Wellness" visits are covered at no cost to you.

Durable Medical Equipment (DME): This includes items like walkers, wheelchairs, and oxygen equipment.

Home Health Care: Limited part-time skilled nursing and health aide services.

💰 2026 Standard Costs:
Monthly Premium: The standard monthly premium is $202.90 for most beneficiaries.

Annual Deductible: You pay the first $283 of the year for Part B-covered services before Medicare starts to pay.

Coinsurance: After your deductible is met, you typically pay 20% of the Medicare-approved amount for most doctor services.

🛡️ Navigating the Gaps
Because Original Medicare (Part A and Part B) does not have an "out-of-pocket maximum," many beneficiaries choose to add supplemental coverage to help manage the 20% coinsurance and other costs.

☕️ Don’t toss those morning coffee grounds! ☕️

Since we are gearing up for National Garden Week, I’ve been looking into eco-friendly ways to help our plants thrive. It turns out, your morning brew is a goldmine for your garden!

Who loves a caffeine boost? 🧪 Coffee grounds are acidic and nitrogen-rich. They are "Superfood" for acid-loving plants like: ✅ Outdoor: Roses, Blueberries, Azaleas, and Hydrangeas (it can even turn your hydrangeas blue! 💙). ✅ Indoor: African Violets, Jade plants, Peace Lilies, and Christmas Cacti.

Pro Tip: If you have "neutral" plants like Pothos or Spider plants, don't overdo it! A little goes a long way. Think of it like a vitamin—perfect once a month, but too much of a good thing can be, well, too much.

Tell me below: Do you have a "green thumb" or are you more of a "hope it stays alive" kind of plant parent? 😂👇 I personally DO NOT have a green thumb. I will be using this tip for myself.
