Today is World Food Day, and while it’s a global event, my heart is right here in our local community. We all know that sometimes life throws a curveball, and it’s a blessing to live in a place where neighbors look out for neighbors. 🤝❤️

New Haven Helping Hands: 115 SW 3rd St, Mineral Wells. (940-325-5654). Offers mobile distributions in Mingus (3rd Saturday) and Graford (4th Saturday).

Meals on Wheels of Palo Pinto County: Specifically for seniors—helps keep our older neighbors nourished and independent. (940-325-7919).

Ever wonder why I send you that digital "permission slip" before we meet? 🤔

It’s called a Scope of Appointment, and I know it can feel like just another step in the process, but it’s actually there to protect YOU. 🛡️

Medicare has a rule that we have to agree on what we’re going to talk about before our appointment. Think of it as a "no-pressure" buffer. It ensures that when we sit down, we are focusing exactly on what you need—with no surprises and no "sales pitches" for things you didn't ask for.

Why I send you a digital link to sign: 💻📱
I know some people do these over the phone with a voice recording, but I’ve always preferred the digital version. I like it because it lets you actually see the form. You get to look at the boxes, see exactly what’s being checked, and keep a copy for your own records. It’s the easiest way to make sure we’re both on the same page before we even start talking!

My goal is always to keep things simple, transparent, and—most importantly—focused on you. Check your email (or your texts!) for that link, and let’s get your review started! 🤝✨

🛡️ Medicare Open Enrollment: Do You REALLY Need a Review? 🛡️
Every year, I get asked the same thing: "I like my plan, do I really have to look at it again?" The short answer? Yes! Even if your health hasn't changed, your plan definitely has. Here is the "Who, What, and Why" of Open Enrollment (Oct 15 – Dec 7).

Who is this for? 🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️
Open Enrollment is for everyone currently on Medicare. Whether you have a Medicare Advantage plan or a standalone Part D drug plan, this is your annual window to make sure your coverage still fits your life.

Do I have to review it every year? 🔄
Think of it like a "tune-up." Plans change their costs, their networks, and their "formularies" (the list of covered drugs) every single January. A plan that was a 10/10 for you in 2025 might be a 6/10 in 2026. Reviewing ensures you don't get a surprise at the pharmacy or the doctor's office in January!

What does a "Plan Review" actually consist of? 📋
When we sit down together, we check four main things:

The Doctors: Are your preferred physicians and hospitals still in-network?

The Meds: Are your specific prescriptions still covered, and has the tier (cost) changed?

The Costs: Have the monthly premiums, deductibles, or max out-of-pocket limits gone up?

The "Extras": Are there new plans with better dental, vision, or gym benefits that weren't available last year?

Don't navigate the "mail mountain" alone! 🏔️ My job is to do the heavy lifting so you can have peace of mind.

📬 Did you just get a letter saying your Medicare plan is leaving the market? Don’t panic! Here’s what it actually means and what you need to do next. 📬

Every fall, Medicare insurance carriers evaluate where they offer coverage. If you received an Annual Notice of Change or a Plan Non-Renewal Notice, it simply means your insurance company is discontinuing your specific plan in your area starting January 1st.

Here is what you need to know 👇

❓ What does this mean for me?
Your current health or drug plan will officially end on December 31st. You still have full coverage through the end of the year, but your plan will not renew for next year.

⚠️ What happens if I do NOTHING?
If you take no action before December 31st:

You will automatically be transitioned to Original Medicare (Part A & Part B) on January 1st.

You could lose your prescription coverage. Original Medicare does NOT cover most outpatient prescription drugs. If you don't pick a new Part D plan, you could face coverage gaps or late enrollment penalties down the road.

You will lose extra perks. Any routine dental, vision, hearing, or fitness benefits attached to your old plan will disappear.

✅ The Good News: You Get Special Protections!
Because your plan is leaving, Medicare grants you a Special Enrollment Period (SEP). This gives you extra time and guaranteed rights to choose new coverage:

Extra Time to Choose: You can pick a new plan during Annual Enrollment (Oct 15 – Dec 7) OR use your Special Enrollment Period (which runs through the end of February).

Guaranteed Issue Rights for Medigap: If you want to switch to Original Medicare, you have a rare right to buy a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) policy without answering health questions or being denied for pre-existing conditions!

💡 What should you do today?

Keep the letter! You may need it as proof of your plan loss if you apply for a Medigap policy.

Review your options. Compare local plans available in your area for the upcoming year.

Check your doctors & medications. Make sure your providers are in-network and your prescriptions are covered under any new plan.

Happy National Daughters’ Day to all my daughters! 🌸

Today I’m celebrating my daughter, Trisha, and I feel especially blessed to also have some truly amazing daughters-in-law.

This photo is extra special to me. It captures my daughter, my daughters-in-law, and my granddaughters all together — nine of us in one moment. Seeing them with their own daughters, my beautiful granddaughters, is such a powerful reminder of the legacy we are building.

While we’re missing one daughter-in-law and two granddaughters who live out of state, my love for all of you is just as strong. So thankful for these incredible women and girls in my life. 💗
