It will be a very stormy evening for areas west of the metroplex. There is no severe threat outlined, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a few strong to severe storms, with mainly a damaging wind threat (up to 60mph), and some pocket change sized hail.

This complex of storms will inch towards the metroplex by sunset, but will be quickly weakening. Some of us along I-35 may see some light/moderate rain, but it is still unsure how quick this segment dies.

A MORE ACTIVE WEATHER PATTERN RETURNS TO NORTH TEXAS!

A developing storm system over the western United States will begin approaching the Plains Tuesday, bringing a severe risk to part of the Texas panhandle into Kansas. North Texas stays dry. Wednesday, scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop across much of North and Central TX, with more widespread rain and organized storms for our northwest counties.

On Thursday, showers and thunderstorms are expected across portions of North Texas as a cold front moves through the region. The greatest rainfall potential will be northwest of DFW, where 0.5–1.5 inches is expected, with locally higher amounts possible.

By Friday, the cold front may push fully through North Texas. This could bring low temps in the 40s!!

‼️ 2 PM UPDATE: MAJOR HURRICANE ISAIAS at 120 MPH WINDS🌀

Tropical storm conditions are beginning to spread onshore along the northern Gulf Coast as Category 3 Hurricane Isaias approaches landfall later today.

The latest National Hurricane Center update shows Isaias maintaining sustained winds of 120 MPH, with a central pressure of 959 mb.

A wind gust of 43 MPH was recently recorded in Apalachicola, Florida.

Isaias is now approximately 125 miles south of Pensacola, Florida, and 140 miles south of Mobile, Alabama, moving north-northeast at 17 MPH.

Life-threatening storm surge and destructive winds remain major concerns along the Florida Panhandle and Alabama coasts, with hurricane conditions expected to worsen as Isaias approaches landfall.

BREAKING: Isaias becomes the latest first hurricane ever recorded, beating the old record set in 1905...

Isaias has reached 75mph, making it the first storm to finally reach Category 1 of the season. While this goes to show how slow this season has been, Isaias is expected to continue intensifying, and it will be a dangerous hurricane when it makes landfall on the Gulf Coast on Friday night.

: Hurricane Watch has been issued for the Northern Gulf Coast, including the Florida Panhandle, Alabama and Mississippi. It’s expected to quickly strengthen into a hurricane with a landfall Friday into Saturday along the Northern Gulf Coast. Here’s the bottom line and what's new:

1) Hurricane Watch has been issued for the Northern Gulf Coast, including the Florida Panhandle, Alabama and Mississippi.

2) Storm Surge Watch has been issued from the Mouth of the Mississippi River, Louisiana to Yankeetown, Florida. An initial storm surge forecast as high as 5-7 feet possible near and especially east of the center.

3) The official NHC forecast calls for a Category 2 Hurricane with 110 mph wind at peak intensity in the Gulf. I can't rule out a Major Hurricane (Cat 3+).

4) Towards landfall late Friday into early Saturday, wind shear will be increasing and dry air will likely lead to some weakening. That does NOT mean it will be a weak storm. It’ll still be impactful with heavy rain / freshwater flooding, surge / saltwater flooding, damaging wind and tornadoes.

5) Greatest potential for landfall will be from Mississippi to the Florida Panhandle (and all areas between). Important: Don’t just focus on the center. This will likely be a lopsided and sheared storm at landfall, with most impacts near and especially east of the center…even out of the cone.

6) The worst of this storm will stay well away from Central and Southern Florida. No direct threat.
