DID YOU KNOW?

Individuals who try Medicare Advantage for the first time have a trial period. If they decide to disenroll from the MA plan and return to Original Medicare within the first 12 months of MA coverage, they can return to their Medigap plan with no underwriting (if they were previously covered by Original Medicare and a Medigap policy). Or, if they joined a MA plan when they were first eligible for Medicare, they can choose from any Medigap policy within the first year.

DID YOU KNOW? Annuities can be an excellent vehicle for paying for your long-term care.

"Withdrawals for Long-Term Care Riders --
The tax treatment of annuity withdrawals recently underwent another change. The Pension Protection Act, signed into law in 2006, recognizes the growing need for long-term care and long-term care insurance in our society. The act provides that charges against or withdrawals from nonqualified annuities that are used to pay for a long-term care insurance rider will not be subject to tax. This change allows qualifying withdrawals for these purposes to be taken as reductions of basis. This had the effect of promoting the design of so-called “hybrid long-term care annuities” which can provide for long-term care benefits as well as accumulation." ~WebCE
