As we prepared to leave Traverse City we were blessed to enjoy a beautiful, glass like view of Lake Michigan.
We then headed down the road a few minutes to The Music House Museum featuring a collection of rare antique musical instruments and music-making machines from 1870–1930, including player pianos, nickelodeons, and a large Belgian dance organ. Our private tour included live demonstrations of how the instruments work, and our knowledgeable guides explained the history and technology. One highlight was scenes from Laurel and Hardy's silent movie - 'The Pie Movie: The Battle of the Century' with sound effect accompaniment from antique instruments. So cool and very well done!
Mackinac City was our departure dock for our ferry to Mackinac Island-YEA! The day was beautiful and clear and we sat on the top and enjoyed the beautiful view of Mackinac Bridge.
We checked into our home for 3 nights The Island House Hotel. I love this hotel for its charm, view of the water, restaurant & two bars, proximity to the downtown area and level of service.
Stay tuned for updates on our island adventures!
