I recently dealt with my first squatter situation as a Realtor, and it was a reminder that certain precautions have to be taken with vacant properties.

A few ways to reduce your risk:
✔️ Check on vacant properties regularly.
✔️ Install quality locks and exterior cameras.
✔️ Keep the exterior maintained so the home looks occupied.
✔️ Ask neighbors to report unusual activity.
✔️ Address signs of forced entry immediately.

A vacant property doesn’t have to become an easy target.
