Balkan Lecture Series is a project of the International Politics Student Organization that invites ambassadors, scholars, and experts related to the region of Southeast Europe to participate in lectures, discussions, and panels at SIS. After more than 20 years of disintegrations and integrations, instability and stabilization, war and peace, and embargoes and free zones the region of Southeast Eur

ope continues to attract the attention of the world. The Wars in Yugoslavia, the NATO intervention in Serbia, the Albanian Insurgency in Macedonia, and the civil demonstrations in Greece have all dramatically shaped not only a new geographical, but also a novel political reality of the Balkans. Currently, the tensions in Kosovo, the political instability in BiH, the name dispute between Greece and Macedonia, the high level of corruption in Bulgaria, and the financial crises in Greece are all issues that need special attention.
