🚨 Attention Farmers 🚨

With severe drought conditions continuing across North Carolina, it is critical that you contact your crop insurance agent as soon as possible if you are experiencing any of the following:

• Needing to replant
• Poor or failed crop stands
• Crops not growing as expected
• Crops suffering from drought stress or burning up in the field
• Any other crop-related concerns

⚠️ Do NOT destroy, disc, or otherwise alter a crop before speaking with your agent. An insurance adjuster must inspect, appraise, and release the affected acres before any action is taken.

Timely reporting is essential to protecting your coverage and ensuring claims are handled properly. Know your numbers, understand your policy, and stay in communication with your agent.

If you have questions or need to report a loss, contact us today:

FSA is expanding payment limitation and payment eligibility provisions that affect program payments including allowing for the equitable treatment of qualified pass-through entities, resulting in additional payment limits for those entities. This change allows producers to structure their farm entities to benefit from the legal protections of certain business structures without limiting their access to the farm safety net.

Updated farm operating plans must be on file with FSA by Sept. 15, 2026, for program year 2026.

🚨 $1.625 billion is available to specialty crop farmers through USDA's Assistance for Specialty Crop Farmers program. These payments provide financial support to allow producers to pay for production and marketing inputs in the face of significant market disruptions and elevated input costs during the 2025 growing season. The deadline to apply is Aug. 7, 2026.

On June 1, producers with a http://Login.gov account can access and submit their pre-filled application at fsa.usda.gov/ascf, and beginning June 8, producers can request their pre-filled application from their USDA Farm Service Agency county office. Payments will be issued as applications are submitted and approved, beginning as early as the first week of signup.

FSA is strengthening the farm safety net thanks to the Working Families Tax Cuts Act that adds up to 30 million new base acres nationwide. Starting June 1, landowners can update and increase base acres in preparation for enrollment in the Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC) programs for the 2026 and future crop years.

Landowners have until Aug. 31, 2026, to review and consider base acre increases on farms enrolled in ARC or PLC. https://www.fsa.usda.gov/news-events/news/05-26-2026/usda-announces-base-acre-increase-opportunity-agriculture-risk-price
