Dear PPD friends and community of practice, many of you have asked "when will the 10th PPD Workshop take place?". It took time and resources, but instead of a “classic” PPD Global Workshop as we have done 9 times already since 2006, the team decided, as an interlude, to focus the energy on how the private sector can contribute and react to a very important global issue, which is the refugee crisis. Today, more than 68 million people have been forced from their homes worldwide, including 25 million refugees. Which is why we are announcing a new stream of work on a public-private dialogue approach to the refugee issue.
A major public-private event will thus take place on June 11-12, 2019, in Paris, called “𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗴𝗲𝗲”. The event is organized by the World Bank Group, the European Investment Bank and the Confederation of Danish Industry. The program can be downloaded from here:https://www.danskindustri.dk/siteassets/dibd/resten-af-verden---cases/program---paris-june-11-12---private-sector-role-in-economic-integration-of-refugees.pdf
The conference will bring together field practitioners, investment companies and private sector firms, refugee entrepreneurs, labor market representatives, donors and development partners, chambers of commerce, and public sector actors; 15 countries are expected to be represented through 200 participants. If your PPD is wondering how to integrate a refugee dimension to its work, then this event is for you.
