Good news for Feds--

The President says he will sign a 2019 spending bill into a law on Friday morning, narrowly avoiding another shutdown. The bill includes an average 1.9% pay raise for Federal employees which will be retroactive to January 1 of this year, and will provide funding to the Government for the remainder of the fiscal year.

President Donald Trump signed the 2019 spending bill into law, securing a 1.9 percent pay raise for federal employees that will be retroactive to Jan. 1.

Back pay for Feds has been approved post-shutdown:

President Trump has signed a bill guaranteeing that federal workers sent home unpaid due to the partial government shutdown will receive retroactive pay--which already had been assured for those who have continued to work without pay in shuttered agencies.

How the Government shut down has affected some Federal Employee's retirement plans:

“When someone retires from a federal agency, the agency sends the paperwork to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM),” according to Kim Weaver, director of external affairs at the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board. “OPM processes the retirement and then sends the TSP a separation code. Without that separation code provided from OPM (if retiring) or the agency (if simply leaving the government), the TSP has to treat that participant like a current employee with limited withdrawal options.”

The partial government shutdown is affecting some federal workers who had planned to retire. Some can't get to their TSP money.
