We were on Capitol Hill yesterday for a discussion on the Clarity for Compensation Act (H.R. 7187) and the importance of modernizing payment rules to better reflect how financial advisors operate and serve American investors today.

The panel featured our Vice President, Legislative Affairs & Senior Counsel, Hanna Laver; Jennifer Fox of Finseca, and Michael Mingolelli, Jr., JD of Winged Keel Group—part of M Financial Group, an FSI member firm. Together, the discussion highlighted the need for a permanent solution to allow commission payments to be made directly to an advisor's business entity rather than to the individual. The Clarity for Compensation Act would help today's advisory firms more effectively pay business expenses and staff wages, as well as reinvest in the business.
