It’s the end of an era.

After 25 years in the industry and 6 years leading the HWP Insurance Sales Team, Dennis Clarken is embarking on a new chapter: retirement.

Before he enters this new era, Mr. Clarken sat down with Jack Cauley one last time to reflect on the past 25 years and what shaped him into the successful Insurance Advisor he is today.

Join us in celebrating Dennis and wish him all the best!

Auto Insurance is there to protect you from unexpected damage or accidents. It does not cover normal wear & tear or routine maintenance.

If your car stops running due to age, mechanical failure, or normal wear & tear, your auto policy will not cover the cost of repairs or a replacement vehicle.

However, if your car is totaled due to an accident, your insurance company will typically reimburse you for the Actual Cash Value (ACV) of the vehicle at the time of the loss. Keep in mind that coverage terms can vary depending on the carrier and the policy you've purchased. That's why it's important to review your auto policy carefully, so you know exactly what is included to avoid any surprises.

The holiday season is in full swing, and if you plan to decorate a holiday tree, we’ve got some reminders for you. ⬇

If you’re buying an artificial tree, make sure it’s fire-resistant, but if you prefer real trees, try to make sure it’s fresh and not dry. Not only will it stay greener longer, but it will be less of a fire hazard.

When deciding where to place your tree, make sure you keep it away from any heat sources like radiators or fireplaces. You also want to be careful that it isn’t blocking any doorways or sitting somewhere that can easily be bumped or knocked over. That picturesque place in front of your bay windows might be the perfect spot. 😉

Check your stringed lights for any cracked sockets, frayed wires or loose connections. Don’t use more than three standard-sized sets of lights per single extension cord. Never use lighted candles on a tree or near other types of evergreen. And, always make sure to turn off all the lights on the tree and any other decorations before you go to bed or leave your house.

These safety tips were originally provided by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Did you know that Thanksgiving Day is the peak day for home cooking fires? It historically averages more than 3 times the daily average.

While there isn’t a way to completely ensure an accident won’t happen, these basic safety tips can go a long way in reducing the likelihood of one.

✅Make sure you have a fire extinguisher and that it’s in an accessible location. Don’t forget to test its functionality and check the expiration date.

✅Don’t leave your stove or oven unattended while cooking.

✅Keep flammable items like kitchen towels, oven mitts, etc., away from heat sources.

✅Set a timer to remind yourself that the oven is on.

✅Keep children at least 3 feet away from a hot oven.

✅Check for any electric cords that are dangling off the counter.

✅Test your smoke alarms by pushing the test button and replace batteries if needed.

✅Check your kitchen and appliances before leaving your house or going to bed.

Thanksgiving is a time of gratitude and good food, but don’t forget to stay alert.

While we welcome the fall weather, it also means the days are getting shorter and there’s more time spent driving in the dark.

So, if you find yourself behind the wheel after sunset, remember these tips from Nationwide.

🟦If you’re tired, try to avoid driving. Fatigue makes it harder to stay alert.
🟦Steer clear of two-lane highways to help minimize the unexpected blinding high beams of another car.
🟦Make sure your windshield and mirrors are clean to reduce any obstructions to your sight.
🟦Turn off unnecessary interior lights in your car, as they can be a distraction.
🟦Use high beams when necessary and don’t forget to switch them back for oncoming traffic.
🟦Drive slower so you have more time to react and anticipate unexpected distractions.
🟦Make sure your headlights are working properly and are at the right angle. If you can’t personally adjust them, an auto shop should be able to help you.

Driving at night takes extra focus. Stay alert for yourself and everyone else on the road.
