The administration is contesting a court order requiring that tariff refunds be paid promptly. This does nothing but cause more uncertainty for small businesses that are already struggling to access refunds to which they are legally entitled.

“Most small businesses do not have the resources to hire an attorney who can fight for their refund in court,” Small Business Majority Senior Director of Federal Government Affairs Alexis D’Amato Falvey said in a statement. “It is likely that many small firms will simply give up trying to claim the money they are owed.”

Rising healthcare costs continue to put pressure on New York’s small businesses. For Dr. Lomax R. Campbell, president and CEO of Third Eye Network, only one-third of his staff is able to enroll in his healthcare plan due to affordability concerns, limiting his ability to support employees and offer competitive benefits.

That’s why he’s advocating in support of New York State’s Fair Pricing Act.
