-First celebrated in 1988 by physicist Larry Shaw. Organizing a small event in San Francisico, he chose the date to resemble the first three numbers of pi 3.14.

-Rajveer Meena holds the world record for reciting the most number of decimals of pi. Reciting 70,000 decimals, it took him nearly 10 hours.

-Although it originated in Ancient Greece, pi became popularized by mathematician Leonhard Euler.

Fun Facts on this Valentine's Day:

-Cupid, the charming diaper covered cherub we've come to recognize as the symbol of Valentine's Day can be traced back to Greek mythology. Originally known as Eros.

-The first recorded Valentine was sent from a French Duke to his bride in 1415. Sending a sweet note while imprisoned in the Tower of London.

-The first mass produced Valentine's Day card was sent in 1840.

- In an effort to satisfy the masses countries including Kenya, Columbia and Ecuador ship roses to the U.S. (Get your orders in early)

- A staggering 145 million Valentine's Day cards are exchanged every 14th of February. Second to Christmas, Valentine's Day is the biggest holiday for exchanging greeting cards.

Five Fun Facts as you celebrate your Diwali.

- Diwali is the celebration of the day that Lord Ram returned home after defeating the demon King Ravan. It symbolizes the spiritual "victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance"

- The word Diwali (or Deepavali as it’s sometimes called) means “row of lights".

- The largest celebration outside of India occurs annually in the UK in the city of Leicester. Tens of thousands of people gather in the streets to enjoy vibrant shows of light, music, and dancing!

- Diwali is a time to have fun with friends and family! People exchange gifts and sweets, enjoy delicious feasts, watch fireworks displays, and wear new clothes.

- Each Indian state and region celebrates it a bit differently. Diwali is a time when people illuminate their homes with diyas (oil lamps) and decorate the floors with rangoli designs.
