Last Friday we had unique opportunity to take a tour with Bruce Hullett at the Happy Hour Service Center in Warner Robins, GA and meet members of the Warner Robins High School Football team before their state championship bout this weekend. Happy Hour provides services for developmentally disabled adults and their families.
While there, we learned about their history, starting back in 1957 with just 7 families; growing today to 147 participants!
Happy Hour has become a center dedicated to its community. They have a large area of their property set up to accept plastics, cardboard, newspaper, aluminum cans, etc. for recycling.
You can learn more about them and everything they are involved in here: https://www.happyhourservicecenter.org/happiest-hour-of-the-day/
In recent weeks, one of the participants at the center has been expressing interest in finding a shirt for the Warner Robins HS football team. Coach Westbrook caught wind of this, and set up some time to hand deliver him a team shirt. We had the pleasure of seeing Coach Westbrook and some of the team present this to him during the tour of the facility. In return, Happy Hour presented a hand drawn poster to the team.
Happy Hour works with members of the community in many ways. They utilize the work of volunteers for events with the participants, they work with churches and with businesses locally. They partner with businesses to provide opportunities for participants to have access to jobs. They also work with businesses or individuals who are able to help via donations, whether it is recyclable material, or in other ways.
The service center has several trucks and bins on site at its location in Warner Robins, GA to collect the material. If you have any interest in partnering with them in any way, please reach out to us.
