The Walterboro Police Department is asking all residents to make it part of their nightly routine to lock your vehicle doors before going to bed.

Recently, we have seen an increase in vehicle break-ins, and many of these incidents involve vehicles that were left unlocked or contained valuables in plain sight. Criminals often look for easy opportunities, and taking a few simple precautions can greatly reduce your chances of becoming a victim.

Before you head inside for the night, please remember to:
🔒 Lock all vehicle doors and close all windows.
🔑 Take your keys and key fobs with you.
💼 Remove or hide valuables such as:
• Fi****ms
• Wallets
• Purses
• Cell phones
• Laptops
• Cash and other electronics

If you own a firearm, never leave it unsecured inside your vehicle. Stolen fi****ms are often used to commit additional crimes, putting our entire community at risk.

Your cooperation makes a difference. By taking just a minute each night to secure your vehicle, you're helping protect your property, your neighbors, and our community.

If you see suspicious activity in your neighborhood, please report it immediately by calling 911 in an emergency or the Walterboro Police Department's non-emergency number.
