"Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to honor where we come from, recognize the sacrifices that helped us get here, and celebrate the many different stories within our community.
As a first-generation Mexican American, I entered the corporate world without a clear roadmap. My family taught me to work hard, stay humble, and trust that good work would speak for itself. Over time, I learned that growth also requires finding your voice, advocating for your contributions, and allowing others to support you. Those lessons helped me become more confident without losing the values that shaped me.
Those experiences showed me why representation and employee resource groups like Somos Unidos matter. They create spaces where people feel seen, supported, and understood. Being involved has strengthened my connection to my culture and given me opportunities to mentor, advocate, and open doors for others.
For me, honoring my heritage means carrying those lessons forward, sharing what I have learned, and helping create opportunities for those following behind me."
