The IRS just released updated limits for Health Savings Accounts and High-Deductible Health Plans for 2027. If you offer employee benefits or are enrolled in an HSA-qualified plan, these numbers matter for your planning.
2027 HSA Contribution Limits
Self-only: $4,500 (up $100)
Family: $9,000 (up $250)
Age 55+ catch-up: $1,000 (no change)
2027 HDHP Thresholds
Minimum deductible (self-only): $1,750
Minimum deductible (family): $3,500
Out-of-pocket max (self-only): $8,700
Out-of-pocket max (family): $17,400
Excepted-Benefit HRA: $2,250 per plan year
One notable addition: the One Big Beautiful Bill Act created a new Direct Primary Care Service Arrangement (DPCSA) carve-out, effective for months after December 31, 2025. The monthly fee limits are $150 for individuals and $300 for families.
