It’s finally time!

The nominations have been counted, the Top 5 in each category have been finalized, and we’re officially announcing this year’s Best of Livingston Parish nominees!

What’s been amazing is that even before we officially announced the nominees, many of you noticed voting had quietly opened on our website. Since Friday, we’ve already had more than 3,700 votes cast, simply through people sharing the ballot and spreading the word. That’s incredible, and it shows just how excited Livingston Parish is for this year’s awards.

If you haven’t voted yet, there’s still plenty of time! Official voting is open now through August 15.

📚🍎 First Day of School! 🍎📚

Today is a special day as students, teachers, school staff, and families begin a brand-new school year. Our little twins were all smiles as they celebrated their very first “back-to-school” day, and it reminded us just how quickly these precious moments pass. 💙❤️✏️📓

As another school year begins, we offer this prayer for every classroom, bus ride, playground, and hallway:

Heavenly Father,
We ask for Your loving protection over every student, teacher, administrator, bus driver, cafeteria worker, and school employee this year. Surround them with Your angels and keep them safe each day. Grant students curious minds, kind hearts, and the courage to do their best. Bless our teachers with patience, wisdom, strength, and joy as they pour into the lives of so many children. May every school be a place of learning, friendship, respect, and hope. Guide every family through this new season and remind us that You are always watching over our precious children. Amen. 🙏

Join us tomorrow, Saturday July 18, 2026, to partner with Rotary Club of Livingston Parish and support Whole Heart Health as we help package Manna Meal Kits for local families in need—because food scarcity is a real crisis that still impacts our community today. We are specifically in need of items for taco soup meal kits: canned roast beef, corn, beans and Rotel.

Whether you bring a case of canned goods, volunteer to pack meals, or simply share this post, you’re helping make sure another family has dinner on their table.

📍Volunteers or drop offs can meet us at Faith Crossing Methodist Church in Walker from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm tomorrow.

Please note, our office will be closed tomorrow, Friday, July 3rd, in observance of America's landmark 250th Independence Day. We will reopen and resume normal business hours on Monday, July 6th.

🚚 Contractors: Relief may be on the way—but here’s what Louisiana Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple says about commercial auto costs.
Temple notes many property owners and drivers are seeing insurance premium drops, but commercial auto rates are still going up—because these policies often carry higher limits.
That includes vehicles like:
✅ trucks
✅ delivery vans
✅ plumber and HVAC vehicles
✅ anything owned by a company and driven for business

One legislative idea Temple says could help bring down commercial auto rates is a General Damage Cap proposal. Under that concept, medical bills and repair costs would still be covered, but awards for non-quantifiable items (like pain and suffering/inconvenience) would be capped. Temple also said 17 other states have similar laws (including Mississippi).

While the legislation debates, let us at Billy Cormier Insurance Agency help ease the pain of higher premiums. We’ll work to find coverage options that could lower your premium, so you can put savings toward marketing, new hires, and building toward retirement.
