Lots of buzz around the 50-year mortgage — here are my thoughts:

While a 50-year mortgage might sound like an extremely long-term commitment (and yes, it does mean paying more interest over time), it could actually bring back something we haven’t seen in a long time: *affordability.*

A longer term can make monthly payments more manageable, helping more people become homeowners. And remember — with any mortgage, you can always use an amortization table to see how extra payments impact your loan. Even small additional payments toward principal can significantly reduce both the term and total interest paid.

A 50-year mortgage also offers flexibility. Early on, the lower payment can provide breathing room. Then as your income grows over the years, you can apply more toward your principal to shorten the loan and save money in the long run.

In short — it’s not about the number of years; it’s about how strategically you use the time and your payments to reach your goals.
