If your power goes out, a few steps can help you avoid issues with ruptured pipes.
*If you have a well, turn off the breaker to your water pump. When power is restored and the pipes have had a chance to thaw, turn the breaker back on and check for leaks
* If you are on town or city and lose power, locate the water supply line and turn off the water to the home and open once the power has been restored and pipes have had a chance to thaw.
