TRIO Educational Opportunity Center at McLennan Community College invites you to Money Matters with Eric Smith, a high-energy Money Moves event on April 30 focused on real-world strategies for managing money, avoiding costly mistakes, and building a stronger financial future. Eric Smith is a nationally acclaimed financial education speaker, founder of The Financial Literacy Coach and The Money Game programs, with over 28 years in banking and experience presenting to hundreds of thousands of students and adults across the country.

This free community event supports TRIO EOC’s mission to expand college and career access for low-income and potential first-generation students by giving participants practical tools to make money decisions that move them closer to their education and workforce training goals. To make it more impactful, we will offer cash prizes and two $500 scholarships at each presentation to help with college or workforce training costs.

TRIO Educational Opportunity Center at McLennan Community College is hosting a free community event on campus featuring nationally recognized speaker Dr. Joshua Fredenburg, a leadership strategist, author, and founder of the Circle of Change Leadership Conference.

The First-Generation Student Career Leadership Experience has been created to provide First Generation Students with a career leadership experience that is specifically geared towards helping these incredible students position themselves for career leadership success in college and beyond! Dr. Fredenburg, empowers leaders and transforms lives. He has worked with HBO, Providence, Secova, Bank of America, and more. Please join us on journey of leadership, empowerment, and personal growth. To make this event more impactful, two $500 scholarships will be awarded and attendance is required.

This month, the TRIO Educational Opportunity Center at MCC is hosting free FAFSA Workshops! There's no appointment required and our specialists will help guide you through the process, answer questions, and help you fill out the FAFSA like a pro!

Here's what you'll need to bring:
-2024 Tax Statement
-Social Security Number for Students & Parents/Guardians
-Email address & cell phone to verify identity when creating FSA ID

Direct Loans, Pell Grants, and other federal student aid funds provided to individual students are not impacted by the Jan. 27, 2025, Office of Management and Budget guidance temporarily pausing federal financial assistance programs. We continue to award and disburse federal student aid.
