Questions from actual customers
Question 1
Owner lost the original title but provided me with A bill of sale. Can I still register my 50 Chevy?
Yes, If the owner who sold you the vehicle is still on file and matches your bill of sale information there is no problem. If there is no record for the vehicle and you don't have a title but a bill of sale you can still register your car with no problems.
Question 2
Do I need a weight certificate to register my 1952 Ford truck?
If your vehicle fell out of the DMV system and has no record, you will need a weight certificate and A Vin Verfication to register your truck back into the DMV system. Weight certificates run from $ 8 to $19 dollars.
Question 3
I purchased a vehicle from someone who is not the register owner on file, How can I register my vehicle without A title or bill of sale from the actual owner on file?
These situations can get very frustrating and stressing, when you try to submit a transfer application DMV will reject it because the owner information does not match what's on file. When this happens you need to visit your local DMV office and submit an application to receive information from the register owner on file once DMV approves your request you need to mail out a certified letter to the owner on file trying to reach out to him/her to release interest in the vehicle. If you receive the letter back because the owner no longer lives at that location you take the letter back unopened to the DMV and submit application for registration. VERY IMPORTANT do not open the returned letter this will prove DMV you tried to locate the owner on file.
Question 4
Can Vin Verifiers verify a salvage vehicle?
No, Vin Verifiers are not allowed to vin verify vehicles that are salvage, revive junks, motorcycles with engine changes, used motorcycles with unavailable records. For these situations it's MANDATORY to take them in to the DMV.
