Check out our latest additions to the fine art and historical collection that we are adding to our office building!
When we said we are using a colonial style, we didn’t just mean the interior design and architecture. We want you to feel transported to a different time period when you enter our office. We want it to be a place of education and learning, making life’s big financial decisions, appreciating our own history and forging our way forward.
The first floor will be 18th century, colonial inspired. It will house the Washington Library, the Jefferson Confefence Room, the Madison conference room, the Harrison and Tyler rooms, a bathroom that feels like Lord Dummores private bath, and a nod to William Clark’s expedition with Merriwethwr Lewis. Did you know that William Clark was married at Santillane, a mansion here in Fincastle?
As you take the stairs to the second level we will continue to expand on the great expedition theme with dramatic oil paintings of American countrysides, Teddy Roosevelt and national park artwork, and stepping into the 19th and 20th centuries with the Woodrow Wilson room and Zachary Taylor room.
Have you noticed the theme yet? As you walk through our office building from bottom to top, you will be walking through the decades and centuries of American history. You will also be exploring our local impact on US history. A lot of what has happened in this country has roots right here in SW Virginia.
Booker T. Washington was born just a short drive from our office. His legacy is one of entrepreneurial genius, exceptionalism, education, working hard, and pushing forward equality and diversity and human rights for all Americans!
Our office will be one of celebrating the American story by telling its history subtly. We don’t want it to feel like a museum. Rather it will feel like a collection of fine art that is telling a story, a story that is still being written by all of us.
Being located in Vinton, we will be telling stories of the Gish’s, Vineyards, Pollards, Preston’s, and others who turned Gish’s Mill into the town that it is today.
Being in SWVA we will be sharing stories of Booker T. Washington, William Clark, John Nash, Annie Dillard, and others.
Being in Virginia, we will commemorate each US President from Virginia with their own room. This includes the Washington Library, the Jefferson and Madison conference rooms, the Harrison refreshments room (coffee bar and other things), Tyler file room, and 3 private offices upstairs for Wilson, and Taylor, and Daniel’s private office will be the Roosevelt Room (named after both presidents named Roosevelt, but primarily after Teddy Roosevelt who is Daniel’s favorite president, at least for now).
The Washington library is named for 4 different reason and will include artwork and history from all 4: George, Booker T, DC, and where our office is located: WASHINGTON AVE!
Art as an investment is a beautiful metaphor and powerful illustration that will be fully on display showing our clients that we are a successful business that is here to stay and understands the fundamentals of investing and that we plan on building a long future here with the community that we hope will last for many generations to come!
We want our clients to forget about the stress of everyday life and take a moment to linger and enjoy the multiple layers of art, history, education, and beauty that have shaped this wonderful time we are living in now.
We cannot wait to unveil all of this for our clients and the community!!
Because understanding where we came from, shapes how we view today, and informs us on how we can plan for tomorrow. And that’s the power of good financial planning as well!
This is not AI. This was all written by myself, Daniel Colston.
I have long been a student of history and also interior design (thanks Mom and Dad) so I am now bridging those two worlds together in what may be some of the greatest work I have done to date, except for being introduced to the wonderful people in my life who have changed my life forever. I am truly thankful to God for every single client, customer, friend, acquaintance, my employees, family, and wife. You all are God’s blessing. I am sorry that I have been so busy, but I always have time for my clients) We are all writing history now ourselves. Let’s write a good story! 📖
We will be finishing the work in hopefully about 2 months and then we will be very active in asking our clients to meet with us for annual reviews and to answer any questions you may have, and of course we will be having many open houses and one ribbon cutting with the Vinton Area Chamber of Commerce and Roanoke Regional Chamber !
