HURRICANE HELENE UPDATE:
We are praying for our communities and everyone impacted from this storm. Keep in mind that we have very limited access to phone service and internet access, but our local team (Kailey Dees, Debbie Dees, Daisy Ann Manning, Linda Edwards, Baleigh Rawlins Shiver, Cherann Buchanan) is working to make sure that all claims are filed and in process. This is not a complete list, but here are few things to note as you navigate the damage:
1. To file a claim on your State Farm policy: Call 800-732-5246 or text “CLAIM” to 62789 (a link will be sent to you setup your claim).
2. Document the damage: Take photos and videos of any damage to your property. These are very important to take prior to making any temporary repairs. You will submit these to the claims department at a later time.
3. Temporary repairs: If possible, make temporary repairs to prevent further damage. Until adjusters can assess the damage, be mindful of the contractors that you trust to assist in this process. Please keep ALL receipts and invoices to be reviewed as part of the claim.
4. Downed trees:
a) Downed trees on autos, homes, and scheduled detached structures that caused structural damage OR downed trees blocking primary driveway – you may consider contacting a reputable roofer and/or tree company to get on their list to assess the damage. Again, take pictures of damage prior to removal!
b) Downed trees not causing damage to insured structures – the removal of these trees is not covered under a home insurance policy.
5. Minor damage to your home or property (and not roof related): You may delay filing your claim with the 800 #, and notify our local office. Certain claims may qualify to be expedited within our agency on a case by case basis. Please note there may be a delay in contacting you, but we will acknowledge your communication and get to you as soon as possible!
Above all, do not risk yours or your family’s safety during this time. Please know that we are eager to begin helping you in your greatest time of need, as this is the core mission of my agency. While we may not be immediately available due to system outages, we are working in the background and our 24-hour team at State Farm is taking the lead. If you have any service requests during this time, you may still call my office at 912-537-2886 to be directed to our 24-hour team.
With love,
Kailey
