June is Men’s Health Month, and our team wants to remind everyone how important preventive care is. Many key screenings are already included with most health insurance plans — and catching issues early can make a real difference.
Here are some important screenings and when they typically begin:
• Cholesterol checks: Start around age 17 and repeat every 4–6 years to help reduce heart disease and stroke risk.
• Diabetes screening: Recommended starting at age 35 and every three years, or earlier if you have risk factors.
• Prostate cancer screening: Most men begin around age 50, but those with higher risk may start sooner.
• Colorectal cancer screening: A colonoscopy generally begins at age 45 and repeats every 10 years for average-risk individuals.
• Mental health screening: Often part of annual checkups at any age and a good time to speak openly about changes in mood or stress.
Every man’s health needs are unique, so it’s always best to talk with your doctor about what’s right for you.
