If you don’t have a trust—or you’re not planning to set one up—you should still have these three important documents in place:

1. Durable Financial Power of Attorney -
Someone you trust to handle financial matters if you’re unable to.
2. Durable Medical/Health Care Power of Attorney -
Someone you trust to make health care decisions if you can’t.
3. Advance Health Care Directive -
Your wishes about medical treatment and end-of-life care.

And here’s the important part: get them done BEFORE you need them.

If something happened tomorrow, who would legally be able to step in and help?

A little planning now can save your loved ones a lot of stress later.

I’m not an attorney, so be sure to consult an appropriate professional about your specific documents and situation.

Have you heard of The Great Wealth Transfer?

Did you know an estimated $124 trillion is expected to change hands in the U.S. by 2048?

That means many of you will find ourselves receiving an inheritance. And if that inheritance includes an IRA, there are some important rules to understand.

The SECURE Act changed the rules for inherited IRAs, eliminating the “stretch IRA” for most non-spouse beneficiaries. In many cases, the inherited account now needs to be depleted within 10 years.

With the good comes the not-so-good: those withdrawals can create a significant tax-planning issue. So, when you take the money can be just as important as how much you take.

Having a plan for how and when to take the money will help you make the most of the inheritance while avoiding unnecessary tax surprises.

If you or someone you know may be receiving an inheritance, this is definitely worth understanding. If you have any questions, I’m here to help!

Before You Retire, Let’s Talk Taxes.

I know… not exactly the sexiest topic. But the decisions you make today can directly affect your tax burden in retirement.

Your retirement money may be spread across pre-tax accounts, Roth accounts, and taxable investments — and they’re all taxed differently.

Then there are RMDs. At a certain age, Uncle Sam requires you to start taking money from most pre-tax retirement accounts, whether you need the income or not. And those distributions are generally taxable as ordinary income.

So ask yourself:
How much of my retirement income will be taxable?
And how can I plan for that tax bill before I retire?

If you want to talk about your own retirement tax picture, let’s chat.

You got this, babe!

Ladies, Keep Investing. Seriously.

Last week, we talked about the difference between saving and investing—and why we need both.

This week, let's talk about why investing is especially important for women.
Women generally live longer than men.
Living longer is a privilege, but it also means our money may need to last longer.

And during our earning years, women are also more likely to take on caregiving responsibilities. That can mean time away from work, reduced income, and fewer opportunities to contribute to retirement accounts.

So we may need our money to last longer while having had fewer opportunities to build it.

That's why I want you to do two things:
💰 Build that emergency fund.
🌱 Then keep investing.

And don't rely on willpower. Make your contributions automatic. Start with what you can, then increase them as your income and circumstances allow.

A little more here. A little more there. Over time, it adds up.

Because if you want the freedom to retire when you want to, travel, pursue the things you love, give to causes you care about, or simply have choices later in life...
you have to build the money to make those choices possible.

Tell me: Have you made your retirement contributions automatic? And do you increase them when you can?

If you're not sure where to start, send me a message. I'm happy to help.

Stop Playing It So Safe, Sis!

Women are amazing savers. We build emergency funds, stash money in high-yield savings accounts, and love the peace of mind that comes with having cash set aside.

Keep doing that.

Saving gives you security.

But don't stop there.

Investing is what helps build wealth.

Your savings account is there for emergencies and short-term needs. Investing gives your long-term money the opportunity to grow over time and keep up with inflation.

You need both: the security of savings and the growth potential of investing.

Here's something many people don't realize...
👀 If you have a 401(k), 403(b), TSP, or IRA, don't assume your money is automatically invested. Some retirement accounts—or money from rollovers or job changes—can end up sitting in cash if investment choices were never made.

✨ This week's challenge: Log into your retirement account.

Don't just look at the balance. Find out:
✔️ Is my money actually invested?
✔️ Is any of my money just sitting in cash?

The goal isn't to make changes today. The first step is simply knowing what you have.

And if you're not sure what you're seeing or how to find out, send me a message. I'd be happy to help you take a look.

Your money should be working just as hard as you do. 💜

You got this babe!

💳 Hey Moms, Grandmas, Aunties & Honorary Aunties... this one's for you!

Want to give a child in your life a financial head start without spending a penny?

Here's one of my favorite little money hacks: Credit Piggybacking!

If you have great credit and manage your credit cards responsibly, you may be able to add a child as an authorized user on one of your credit cards. They don't even have to use the card—in fact, many people simply destroy it when it arrives!

Why do it? Because your positive credit history could help them build credit long before they need to rent an apartment, finance a car, or apply for their own credit card.

A few things to remember:
✨ You need to have excellent credit.
✨ Keep your balances low (under about 30% of your credit limit).
✨ Every credit card issuer has different rules, so check with yours before adding someone.

Sometimes the best gift isn't wrapped... it's a financial head start. ❤️

Have you heard of credit piggybacking? Would you do this for a child in your life? Tell me in the comments! ⬇️

Most women think the biggest barrier to building wealth is not knowing where to start.

But in my experience, the real barrier is mindset.

I can teach investing, strategy, and financial planning. What I can't do is erase the stories you've been carrying for years:
✨ "I'm bad with money."
✨ "I'll never have enough."
✨ "I'm not smart enough."
✨ "Wanting money isn't spiritual."

Those beliefs—not your ability—are often what keep you stuck.

Money isn't something to fear or feel guilty about. It's a tool that creates freedom, choices, and the ability to care for yourself, your family, and your community.

When you stop treating money like the enemy and start treating it like a partner, everything begins to change.

So today, notice the money stories you're telling yourself. Are they helping you build the life you want—or holding you back?

When you're ready, let's create a financial plan that supports the life you deserve.

You've got this, babe.

📚 Learning Corner: Different Types of Investment Funds

Last week we talked about mutual funds vs. ETFs. This week, let's look at a few of the different types of funds you might own.

Keep in mind, there isn't one "best" fund. The right mix depends on your goals, your timeline, and your comfort with risk.

• Broad Market Funds – Invest across hundreds of companies for built-in diversification.
• Sector Funds – Focus on one industry like technology, healthcare, or energy. More growth potential, but also more ups and downs.
• Growth vs. Value Funds – Growth funds aim for faster-growing companies, while value funds look for companies that may be undervalued.
• Bond (Fixed Income) Funds – Designed to add stability and balance to a portfolio.

Question for you: Have you ever looked to see what types of funds you actually own? Let me know in the comments! 👇

📚 Learning Corner: Mutual Funds vs EFTs

Ever wondered what the difference is between a mutual fund and an ETF?

Here's the simple version:
💰 Both are baskets of investments that can hold stocks, bonds, or both.
📈 Mutual funds are typically actively managed, so they often have higher internal fees (called expense ratios).
💡 ETFs are generally more passively managed, which often means lower expenses.

Does that mean ETFs are always the better choice? Not necessarily. The right investment depends on your goals, timeline, and overall financial plan.

One thing I encourage everyone to do is find out what you're paying in investment fees. Even small expense ratios can make a difference over time.

If you have mutual funds or ETFs and have no idea what the fees are, let's take a look together. I'd be happy to help!

Question for you: Have you ever looked at the fees inside your investments? Let me know in the comments! 👇
