I’ve been getting this question a lot lately, so I wanted to clear things up! ⬇️

“Do I have to wait for Open Enrollment to change my health coverage?”

The answer depends on what kind of plan you’re looking for:

Private Plans: Nope! You can apply anytime, year-round.

Marketplace (ACA) Plans: Generally, yes. You can only enroll outside of the standard window if you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period (like moving or having a baby).

Employer Plans: Yes, you’re usually restricted to your company’s specific annual window.

Whether you're self-employed and missed the deadline, or you're just tired of waiting for your job's enrollment period to roll around, I can help you find a plan that actually fits! Contact me now for a free consultation!

Did you know you don't have to wait until the end of the year to change your health insurance? 🏥
While the Marketplace is an excellent resource for those with subsidies, healthy individuals often overpay there. Private underwritten PPO plans offer nationwide coverage and lower premiums—and you can enroll 365 days a year.
I’ve helped many clients save significantly by finding the right fit outside the exchange. Curious if you’re on the best plan? Let’s do a free side-by-side comparison. You can contact me or fill out the quick Google questionnaire in the comments below.

My husband works in healthcare... but we DITCHED his company's family plan. 🤯
Wait, what?
I know it sounds backwards, but staying on his employer’s plan was actually costing us a fortune. While his individual coverage was "free," adding the rest of the family was draining our bank account every month. 💸
So, we practiced what I preach to my clients: Stop settling for "standard" coverage just because it’s offered.
We switched to a private plan and the results have been a total game-changer:
✅ $1,000+ Monthly Savings – That’s $12k a year back in our pockets! Over the course of 8 years, that's almost $100,000- a nice addition to our retirement funds!
✅ Nationwide PPO Coverage – No more "out of network" headaches; we see any doctor we want.
✅ Total Security – It’s guaranteed renewable until 65, so no more worrying about job changes or expensive COBRA.
Most people assume the work plan is the best deal (and sometimes it is), but for us, the math didn't lie. 💰

Turning 65 soon? Here are your Medicare must-knows!

Medicare timing is everything. Here are two quick tips to keep your transition smooth:

*Start Early: You can begin your enrollment 3 months before your 65th birthday month. This "head start" guarantees your coverage begins exactly when you need it.
*Watch the Deadlines: Missing your initial window can lead to permanent late-enrollment penalties for Part B and Part D unless you have "creditable" coverage from an employer.

I specialize in taking the guesswork out of these rules. If you have questions or just want to confirm you're on the right track, I’m only a call away!

With the cost-of-living skyrocketing, there's no reason you should be paying more for something when you don't have to. 💸
If you’re relatively healthy, you might be overpaying for coverage you don’t even need. You can get the same quality care for a much lower monthly premium.
The worst-case scenario? You stay exactly where you are.
The best case? You save a small fortune every month. 💰

I recently sat down with a hardworking family of five.
With the arrival of their newest little one, their perspective shifted. As business owners, they realized that while traditional health insurance is great for doctor bills, it doesn’t do a thing for the lost income that happens when you’re sidelined.
For them, "no work" means the revenue stops—but the mortgage, the grocery bills, and the business overhead definitely don't.
They didn't just want a health plan; they wanted a safety net.
That’s why we moved them into a plan with an Indemnity feature. Now, if an illness or injury keeps them from the job, they receive a cash benefit paid directly to them.
They can use that money for ANYTHING:
🏠 Paying the home mortgage.
🍎 Keeping the fridge full for three kids.
🏢 Covering the office rent.
👥 Hiring a temp to keep their business running.
Health insurance pays the hospital; Indemnity pays you.
Business owners: If you couldn't work for 30 days, would your bills still get paid? Let’s make sure the answer is "Yes." ✍️

Transitioning from education to health insurance felt like a major leap, but I’ve realized the two worlds share a common heart. At the core, both are about empowering people with the knowledge they need to make life-changing decisions. People need health insurance, and my role is simply to provide the clarity and confidence they need to secure their future. Thank you to Patrick Cleary and Alex Kowalenko for your guidance and support along the way.

I’ll be "hostage" to my husband’s employer plan (Florida Blue) until later this month. I bet you think that for someone on an employer plan in the medical field, the coverage would be elite. WRONG. ❌
Case in point: I had a 5-minute doctor visit recently.
💸 Total Bill: $180
📉 Insurance "Help": $48.03
💳 My Responsibility: $131.97
I’m counting down the days until his employer's Open Enrollment this month, so I can switch to MedMutual Protect health insurance in April. The math just makes sense:
EVEN IF I see an out-of-network doctor OR a doctor who doesn't take insurance at all, if the bill is $180, I can self-pay to get a discount (usually at least 30%), bringing that $180 bill down to $126. PLUS, I'd get a $150 reimbursement check in the mail for the office visit. 📬
The Bottom Line:
Current Insurance: I OWE $131.97 📉
MedMutual Protect: I MAKE $24.00 📈
Yes, I’d actually come out in the green!

Did you know...

If you are self-employed and not eligible for an employer-sponsored plan through a spouse, you may deduct 100% of your health insurance premiums directly from your net income, including premiums for yourself, your spouse, and dependents. This also applies to dental and qualifying long-term care insurance.
