Want to be prepared for Retirement and the Unexpected?
Here's four ways to protect yourself:
1. For those 40 years older, Protect your choices and dignity for when you need physical help in your golden years by obtaining Long-Term Care Insurance.
Washington State has options for up to 2 years worth of coverage, Oregon has options for up to 1 year worth of coverage.
To put this in perspective: Bankers Life Monthly premiums for our protected clients are typically the cost of ONE day of care.
The average annual cost of Long Term Care, if paid privately in Washington, is $83,091 for Home Healthcare and upwards of $74,658 for Memory facility care. Imagine if you didn't have to worry about where 1-2 years worth of that cost was coming from.

2. For those over the age of 21 who have a family history of Cancers, Strokes, Heart Attacks, Alzheimer/Dementia: A Critical Illness insurance plan can cover the expenses that your insurance doesn't! Up to $70,000 upon diagnosis (depending on what you choose at enrollment), a tax-free check will be written for you to spend on dietary changes, travel, time off work, or whatever you need it for.
3. For those who have dependents or spouses who rely on your income, or for those who have a mortgage that couldn't be paid if you were to pass away before your home is paid off, a Life Insurance Policy is a valuable vehicle to give you and your loved ones peace of mind.
Life Insurance plans can be built to just cover final expenses, or they can be built to cover the remaining mutual debts you carry with your spouse or partner. They can also be built to cover Capital Gains tax.
4. Once you retire, and are at or older than 65, enroll in a Medical Insurance plan that will close that pesky no-cap 20% coinsurance gap Original Medicare holds you responsible for. You can either choose a Medicare Advantage plan, or a Medicare Supplement Plan.
